Ants Laikmaa Home Museum
In the 1920s, Ants Laikmaa, one of the greats of the Estonian art world, established a farm in the Village of Kadarpiku in Taebla. At the National Romantic-style museum, visitors can view exhibitions about the artist’s life, and the art supplies and domestic items that belonged to him. Look at paintings in the second-storey studio, walk along the beautiful birch-lined lanes to the forest or the summerhouse. A juniper-lined path leads to the artist’s grave.
Interesting facts:
A 7-hectare diversified park was built adjacent to the house by Laikmaa and his friends, including oaks that are dedicated to Estonia’s top cultural figures. In 1891, Laikmaa set out on a trip that led him from Riga to Dusseldorf.
