Built by former Soviet Union army Kiltsi airfield extends to ca 800 ha area. Concrete runways are 2500 m long, for the airplanes there were 28 hangars. Construction of the airfield was started in 1939 and for the time being was used until 1956, in 1969 it was reconstructed. After departure of Soviet army the airfield became decayed, as the heritage there still are old airplane hangars, barracks and runways. Adventure searchers should be careful in the military settlement and to avoid the possible collapses not to scale the ruins.
Interesting to know: the ruins of baroque Ungru castle beside the airfield offer a strong contrast to previously seen.
