“Friends, let’s make music!” This was the energetic and optimistic greeting that well represented Neeme Järvi in 1963, when he, as a fresh graduate of the Leningrad State Conservatory first became principal conductor of Estonia’s premier orchestra. Energy, positive attitude and a good sense of humour have all helped to carry him along the waves of success throughout his long and diverse career. The final concert of ENSO’s 90th season will celebrate Neeme Järvi’s 80th birthday.
Congratulations, ENSO! Congratulations, Maestro Neeme Järvi!
Neeme Järvi’s sons – themselves also conductors – Paavo and Kristjan, as well as his flutist daughter Maarika will also appear with the orchestra.
“It’s not just charisma. It’s the Järvi’s ability to make people in the audience feel that the music is being made just for them.” (“Neeme Järvi. Kunstniku elu / The Maestro’s Touch”, SE&JS Publishers, 2007)
