They say that the nature and culture of Estonian islanders are very different from the mainland Estonian's. Try Saaremaa's home brewed beer, buy knitwear with the Muhu pattern and other souvenirs; meet the calm islanders with a good sense of humour.
You can get to the islands of Vormsi and Hiiumaa with a ferry from the Rohuküla Port near Haapsalu. From the Sõru Port in Hiiumaa you can get to Triigi port in Saaremaa on a small ferry. A road on an embankment connects Saaremaa with the island of Muhu. A ferry takes you to the mainland from the Kuivastu Port in Muhu. You can get to the island of Kihnu from Pärnu or Munalaiu Port.
