The Estonian Railway Museum is located in the beautiful historicist-style Haapsalu Railway Station, where unfortunately trains no longer run. The station building, which was completed in 1906, has a covered platform measuring more than 200 metres, as well as imperial residential rooms and the true atmosphere of a station from the olden days. Adding a modern edge to its attraction is its three railway-themed sound features.
As an institution, the Estonian Railway Museum studies, compiles, preserves and presents the country's rail history. In addition to its indoor displays, there is also an outdoor exhibition.
