For a small town, Haapsalu boasts a surprising number of galleries and handicraft workshops. Posti, Karja, Ehte, Jaani and Kooli Streets in the Old Town form something of an 'art quarter' in the summer. In some places the fine arts are even fused with the art of cooking: feed your mind and your body at the same time! Quite a number of well-known artists choose to spend their vacations or even live in Haapsalu and surrounding areas. Many of the galleries are closed on Sundays. The Evald Okas Museum and Gallery, Gallery Central and the Epp Maria Gallery are only open during summer.
