Kärdla Beach
Kärdla Beach is a swimming beach with a shallow seabed in the capital of Hiiumaa.
The sandy seabed and quick-to-warm sea make the beach very suitable for families with children. The beach has changing cabins, sun loungers, and tables and benches for picnicking. There are also swings for children on the beach. Nearby in the forest is the Kärdla low adventure park, which has separate trails for both younger children and larger adventurers.
The beach is home to the year-round restaurant Rannapaargu, and during the summer season, you can visit Hiibiza Beach Bar. The traditional Kärdla midsummer bonfire is held annually on the beach, and various concerts and outdoor events take place here during the summer.
At the water's edge is the protected Kärdla Beach stone, with carved lines indicating the height of the sea water during historical storms. In the southern part of the beach is the protected Kärdla Beach park, where 34 species of trees and shrubs grow, and the cast-iron cross at the center of the park commemorates the former chapel and cemetery of the Hiiumaa Swedes.
