Strong medieval fortification tower Kiek in de Kök (germ. "peek in the kitchen") got its name according to the legend how the soldiers of the tower liked to peek from the top of the tower into windows of Lower Town kitchens. Nowadays there is museum in the tower, that represents the history of Tallinn genesis and development as well as the most important war events until 13th-18th centuries. In the basement floor there are temporary photography exhibitions.
