The Kohtla-Nõmme winter centre, located in the same place as the Kohtla mining museum, has two downhill skiing slopes, a snowtubing track, cross-country tracks and, if there is enough snow, a sprint track. The centre’s ski slopes, which are well lit and have their own lifts, are perfect for beginners due to their gentle gradient and height. Visitors can borrow snowtubes, skis and snowboards.
Did you know…? The ski slopes were constructed on hills that developed from deposits of oil shale mining residue, making the centre the only one in Estonia with ski slopes on artificial hills. The snowtubing track at the centre is thought to be the longest in Estonia.
