Lake Pühajärv

The picturesque coastline and five islands of Lake Pühajärv make it the biggest and most beautiful lake in the Otepää region. There is a beach with a beach house, ball game courts, rest areas, cafés and a pier by the northern tip of Lake Pühajärv.
There are many springs in the lake and the Spring of Love is the most famous of these. The Väike Emajõgi River starts from the southern tip of the lake. A 12 km hiking track runs about the lake. Dalai Lama Tenzin Gyatso blessed the lake in 1991 and this event is commemorated with a wooden sculpture on the lake’s shore by the park.

    Skiing on the ice

We has a nice sunday skiing on the lake (10km). It is good to ski also around the lake, although the track is not the best. After ski trip we has a sauna in Pühajärve spa.

    Beautiful lake

It was a great feeling to walk around this beautiful sacred lake. Even though it was a cold day with a slight drizzle we enjoyed taking photos and being there.

A Great Place to spend a relaxing day

Nice, quiet, easy access, good walking, great cafe with a view on the lake, wonderful swimming in a sandy beach. Very easy to spend a few hours if not an entire relaxing day.
