Lihulinn

Ring fort is situated away from villages in the forest, on the sand dunes that are partly surrounded by swamps. The place is very well protected by nature: on the North-West runs small creek, on the East and South-East there are 3-4 m high sand dunes. During construction of ring fort the dunes were connected so that a oval ring embankment was created.
Interesting to know: From construction point of view the strongest fort on Saaremaa. Lihulinn has the biggest yard area on Saaremaa - app. 18 000 m². At the inner side of embankment foot were found half-burned beam ends and coal.
