Vabaduse puiestee 1b, Tartu linn, Tartu
In the summer, we depart from the pier next to the Tartu Market building every Saturday morning at 10 a.m. and embark on a trip to Piirissaar.
Piirissaar is the only permanently inhabited Estonian island in Lake Peipsi. The north-eastern part of the island has three villages (Piiri, Tooni, and Saare). Most of the inhabitants of Piirissaar are Russian Old Believers whose main activities include fishing and growing onions.
The boat trip to Piirissaar lasts for about 4 to 4.5 hours; you have 1.5 hours to look around on the island.
