View on map

Jägala Waterfall is a waterfall in the lower course of the Jägala River, approximately 4 km before the river flows into the Gulf of Finland. The waterfall is approximately 8 metres high and more than 50 metres wide. It is the widest natural waterfall in Estonia.

The waterfall is a peculiar sight to see in winter, when the water freezes in cold weather and becomes a glistening ice wall with large icicles. A tunnel surrounded on both sides by ice sometimes forms in between the ice hanging down from the edge of the waterfall and the wall of the waterfall.
Interesting to know: in terms of fishery, the lower course of the Jägala River from the waterfall to the mouth of the river is one of the most valuable ones in Estonia – large trout and salmon resources can be found here.

Worth a visit!

We visit a waterfall whenecer we can. Easily reachable with a car from Tallin. Dramatic view even in summer - should think its amazing in winter! Well sign posted and info boards were interesting.

Nice falls.

The water was low when I was there. But it was still pretty nice. Lots of people were enjoying the falls. It offers some great pictures and you can walk all around it. Pretty nice.

Interesting stop

Quite relaxing and its a very short walk from the car park so easy to see. Worth a stop if in the area but not really a destination location.
