Karepa küla, Haljala vald, Lääne-Viru maakond
Kalame farm is situated on the banks of the Selja River in the village of Karepa on Estonia’s northern coast.
The farm museum is a sight worth seeing in its own right, as it is home to the only ‘lamprey kitchen’ in the country, designed especially for roasting this marine animal. It is possible to cook lamprey in its oven, which still operates to this day. The kitchen also exhibits old-style fishing equipment.
Wheelchair access
From the Tallinn-Narva highway (E20), turn off in the direction of Kunda, but before reaching Kunda itself follow the signs to Toolse and Karepa. The village is located a further 8 km on from the turn-off.
