In the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century, Pikk tänav was the main shopping street in Rakvere. It had a bank, shops, restaurants, and inns.

The newly reconstructed Pikk tänav became a modern pedestrian-friendly promenade and the city's representative street. The street now has modern lighting, benches, and flower boxes.
Walking along the historic Pikk tänav, you get an overview of the city's diverse architecture. In addition, you will meet creative people and find several handicraft shops there, where you can buy Estonian handicrafts.
22 Pikk tänav has a modern recreation area with concrete benches and deck chairs.

Pikk street is a nice place to go for a stroll and visit the arts and crafts stores and also stay at the Kaatrina bed and breakfast and restaurant. Good food and nice prices.
