Built i the first half of 19th century, this classical- style building is a heritage and important for Estonian culture. Vanemuise Society, who laid the foundation for the Estonian song festival traditions, was active here in 1870- 1903 and also Estonian folk play “ Saaremaa cousin” (“Saaremaa onupoeg”) by Lydia Koidula was performed which celebrated birth of Estonian theatre. Song Festival Museum’s permanent exhibition, which includes three parts, is focused on building’s history, song festival traditions and birth of national theatre. Museum’s beautiful park is waiting for visitors.
