Vällamägi is one of Estonia's largest natural landforms. Its altitude is almost 304 meters. In terms of relative height, Vällamägi is the highest mountain in Estonia, even being higher than Suur Munamägi.

A recreation area with a separate sauna, managed by the State Forest Management Centre, is located on the mountain slope. Nature enthusiasts can stop and relax in a forest building in the recreation area for a small fee. There is an open campfire site with benches and a sheltered sitting area near the building. The Vällamägi hiking trail is in the immediate vicinity of the recreation area.

Getting there

Drive about 10 km on Võru-Haanja Road, until you see the signpost to the left 'Vällamäe matkarada' (Vällamägi hiking trail). There, drive for about 100 meters, until you see a parking lot on your left. You can leave your car there. You cannot drive up to the forest house – it is a 1 km walk.
