Hiiumaa's military history can be divided into two main periods: that of the maritime fortress of Peter the Great (1912-1917) and that of the Soviet military bases (1939-1993). You can visit what remains of the fortress (built in 1912) and the army bases (built from 1939-1941) and hike both aboveground and below. The length of your hike, the sites you visit and the level of difficulty are agreed between each client and the guide separately.
