Padise Monastery

KLOOSTRI, Padise küla, Lääne-Harju vald, Harju maakond

View on map

After the recently completed restoration, Padise Monastery is open to visitors again!

The monastery was built by the Cistercians in the 14th century over a period of 200 years. Today,  its 14th-century church bell (the oldest in Estonia) which can be found in Harju-Risti church, and the rare Calvary group from the same century which is on display at St. Nicholas’ church remain intact as interior features from the medieval period.

Interesting to know: Thanks to its good acoustics and special aura, the church hall of the Padise Monastery is an appreciated concert venue.
The monastery is in the National Register of Cultural Monuments.
