One of Estonia's most respected festivals, the Rapla Church Music Festival has been taking place for 20 years, showcasing some of the world's richest music. Concerts are held in the Church of Mary Magdelene, which is renowned for its acoustics, and a number of other smaller churches in the area.
The biggest names in Estonian music have performed at the festival over the years, as have stars from the United Kingdom to Japan. Opera singer Pille Lill has been its artistic director since 2010, and it was with her support that the Rapla Summer School was established, which holds masterclasses for string instrumentalists, conductors and singers.
