One suitable location for getting an overview of Matsalu Bay and the abundance of birds in Läänemaa, is Haeska. In spring thousands of different species of swans and geese stop there; the birds are active both in shallow water as well as on the coastline. Haeska tower is about 8 metres high and has two platforms. There is also a recreation area.
Interesting facts: * Haeska tower is the place where the European record in 1-day birdwatching was made by Finnish birdwatchers – they registered 128 different species.
* The birdwatching tower and recreation area are situated on a private land and therefore staying on this object is allowed from sunrise to sunset.
