RMK website designed for hikers in nature, is from the beginning of summer available in three languages — besides Estonian and Russian, complete information on the opportunities of hiking in the state forest is now also provided in English.
The English version of the website
definitely helps to provide a better introduction to Estonian forests, facilitates the choices of foreigners, and advances rural tourism in different places in Estonia.
The newly completed English language web environment includes all of Estonia’s study, hiking, cycling, and off-road trails, camping areas, campfire sites, huts, forest and nature houses, nature centres, and information desks by region. The website contains exhaustive information on all of them and this could be used in order to plan walks in nature. On the website, it is also possible to book RMK forest houses all over Estonia.
RMK establishes opportunities for nature walking and forest holidays in recreation areas, in Estonia’s five national parks, and almost 40 other protected areas, and shapes nature awareness. Across Estonia, there are 2,000 kilometres of hiking trails, 309 sheltered campfire sites, 50 camping sites, 22 forest huts, 18 forest houses, 3 off-road trails, and 21 information desks.
RMK is a profit-making state agency established under the Forestry Act, aimed at sustainable and efficient management of the state forest. RMK grows reforestation material, organises forest works, executes practical nature protection works and is engaged in forest and timber sales. RMK manages 38% of Estonia’s forests.
