Sillapää Castle was built in 1847. The castle is nationally protected due to its remarkable architectural ensemble. Today it accommodates the Räpina Local Lore and Gardening Museum.
The castle is surrounded by a dendro park, which is home to various species and it is the pride of Räpina town. There are more than 300 species of trees and bushes in the park, which are home to more than sixty bird species, not to mention squirrels, hedgehogs and people have also seen ferrets, weasels and even otters. Räpina park is one of the best places for bats in Estonia (8 species live here).
If you walk in the park you will come across the Kissing Temple, the couples who have vowed to love each other in it, stay together for life.
