Soomaa tour

Soomaa National Park between Viljandi and Pärnu is known for its primeval swamps, skiffs made of a single tree trunk, or haabjas, and unique suspension bridges. Spring floods are jokingly called the fifth season.

The best way to tackle this route is by car. During floods, you should take into account that even larger roads near Tõramaa and Triisa might be impassable.

During summers, mosquitoes and horseflies accompany hikers; think of it as a genuine experience of real nature!

When driving from a city to Soomaa, you should grab along a map from a tourist information centre and a picnic basket from a grocery store because there are no cafés in the swamp.

Be sure to make the first stop as early as in Kõpu.
