Welcome to the Museum and Visitor Centre of Fat Margaret!

Listed on UNESCO's World Heritage List, the complex provides an overview of maritime trade, agencies, and navigation in the Middle Ages, as well as in the era of sailing, steam, and motor ships. There is a total of 1,000 m² of exhibition space. The star exhibit is the 700-year-old Koge wreck found in Kadriorg in 2015. There are about 70 ship models out of which 17 have been created especially for the exhibition, nearly 700 items, and 50 digital and hands-on solutions.

Getting there

The nearest parking lot us located at 6 Väike Rannavärav . Free parking is 1.8 km from here, at the Seaplane Harbour. Enjoy the sea view by walking along the beta-promenade or Kalaranna tee. A museum train runs between Seaplane Harbour and Fat Margaret tower during the summer season. Distances: Town Hall Square 700 m, Port Terminals A, B, and C 800 m, Passenger Terminal D 1.3 km, Tallinn Cruise Terminal 1.2 km. Accessibility: nearly 90% of the museum is accessible by wheelchair, there is an elevator, hearing aid compatible induction loop, a guideline for the visually impaired, palpable replicas of selected ship models, and more.

Very good choice for families

A lot of interesting information about the history of Estonian seafaring and fleet. Plenty of engaging activities for the children of 5-8 years old.
