‘Tagaküla Suurkivi’ and ‘Ehalkivi’ boulders

Located just east of Kunda, as soon as you enter the fishing village at Letipea; the Tagaküla Suurkivi’ boulder will catch your eye. With a circumference of around 30 metres and standing 4 metres high, it is an impressive sight.

Also close-by and nearer to the shore, stand the ‘Ehalkivi’ boulder; 7.6 metres tall, with a circumference of 49 metres, it weighs an estimated 930 cubic tonnes.

Did you know...?: Ehalkivi is the boulder with the largest exposed surface in Estonia, and is also the biggest boulder in Northern Europe. The name of the boulder comes from the fact that when the sun sets in the evening, it disappears completely behind it.
