48 metres high, Tall Hermann is the tower that stands at the south-western corner of Toompea Castle in Tallinn. It is a stone's throw from the Estonian parliament and is home to the city's foremost national flag, which is raised at sunrise (or 7.00 am, whichever is later) and lowered at sunset (or 10.00 pm, whichever is earlier) every day. A narrow stone staircase leads to the top which has 215 steps.
