Tartu City Museum
Estonians have called this town Tartu, Germans- Dorpat and Russians- Yuryev. Since the formation of the city, in the middle of 13th century, it was officially named as Dorpat, in the period of Soviet Union, in 1899, it was renamed as Yuryev and since 1917 the Estonian form of the name is Tartu. Baltic States’s oldest city’s history is introduced by exposition “Dorpat. Yuryev. Tartu”, which is located in Tartu City Museum’s main building. Museum is located in early classical aristocratic dwelling, built in 1790. Concerts and receptions are held in ceremonial Louis XVI styled Festive Hall.
