Tartu Observatory in Tõravere is one of the 21 places worth discovering in Southern Estonia that are marked with a yellow National Geographic window; if you are interested in nature, visiting those places is highly recommended.

At the observatory you can:
* take a look at the 1.5 metre telescope;
* look at posters about astronomy;
* examine a model of the solar system and learn how the seasons and night and day change on Earth and how solar and lunar eclipses occur;
* see how big computers still were in the 1980s;
* visit the virtual planetarium to explore the night sky and discover the changes that take place there.
