Tartu Uppsala House

Uppsala House is one of the oldest wooden buildings in Tartu (it dates back to the 16th century) and a typical 18th century citizen’s house – a one-storey building with a mansard roof. In 1993 the cities of Uppsala and Tartu agreed in the cooperation project “Restoration of Old Buildings” and Uppsala House was restored as a part of this project. The house is currently used as a guesthouse.
Interesting facts: - the families of a secretary of the highest Livonian court, a saddle maker, tailors and representatives of many other interesting professions have lived in the building in different times. There were rental flats for students in the building at the beginning of the 19th century.
