04. May 2010

Tartu Hanseatic Days, which take place on 16-18 July, carrying the heading Harmonic Tartu Hanseatic Days, invite citizens and guests to the hanseatic wedding. The Wedding ceremony introduces ancient wedding traditions and everyone who wishes to take part, can be the quests in this ceremony.

The project manager of Tartu Hanseatic Days Ants Johanson says about the weddings: “This nice couple, whose names I’m going to keep for a secret at the time, is coming from the far away to Tartu to have their wedding ceremony here. We hope that the picture they will take with hanseatic quests will be the crown jewel of their family album and will always remind them this important day.”

As the name – Harmonic Tartu Hanseatic Days – says this year music will be emphasized, especially brass music, which the quests can enjoy on the summer’s biggest festival in Tartu. Namely, Tartu Hanseatic Days and Mürtsub pill festivals are combined this year so we offer our quests even more spectacular musical event.

During the Mürtsub pill festival there are several different brass band orchestras from Estonia and from abroad performing in Tartu. Mürtsub pill festival will start on Wednesday, 14th July at 18.00 and will end with the Tartu Hanseatic Days on Sunday, 18th July at 15.00 with the joint final ceremony. Thus, the Rae Town which will come to life during the Tartu Hanseatic Days is going to concentrate mainly on brass band music.

As before, during these days in July it is possible to visit hanseatic times in the Jaani Town, ancient times in the River Town, contemporary time in Rae Town, Children’s and Future Town and the energetic Hansa market. This year all the Tartu Hanseatic Days’ cities will get an addition – Tartu County City, which is an exhibition about Tartu County’s different aspects and where Tartu County’s different regions introduce important objects, events, associations, musicians, dancers and much more..
