See photos (3) On the shore of Lake Vihtla lies a monument to the famous organ builders from Võru County. The Kriisa family homestead is located in Kokemäe, where three sons, Tannil, Jakob and Juhan, were born to Matli and Peeter Kriisa.
The company "Orelimeistrid vennad Kriisa" (Brothers Kriisa Organ Builders) was founded by Tannil. Jakob crafted the metal pipes, and Juhan made the larger parts and handled the paperwork. Tannil's eldest son Eduard became the primary renovator and repairman for all of Estonia's organs.
The company's traditions are carried on by Eduard's son Hardo (Born 1940). They have restored and renovated organs in Ukraine, Russia, Finland, Sweden and Estonia. The Kriisa organ builders have operated since 1886.
