The Estonian Museum of Natural History will take its visitors on a time journey to hundreds of millions years ago in Earth’s history.
The trilobite exhibition is a rare opportunity to make acquaintance with one of the most primeval groups of animals, a group of very exciting creatures long extinct by now. „It was the time when there was no life on land yet and trilobites were the ones to rule the oceans. These marine creatures reminiscent of woodlouses dominated the oceans about two and a half hundred million years before the first dinosaurs stepped on land,“ said Kairi Põldsaar, head of the Geology Department of the Estonian Museum of Natural History.
The exhibition presents a careful selection of the more interesting and rare trilobite fossils from all geological collections of Estonia. In addition, the interactive animations give visitors an idea of trilobites’ movements on the sea bottom, of their life and activities in primeval seas. Children will have an opportunity to watch a movie about the finding and preparation of trilobites. On family days, kids will be presented a puppet show „Time Journey to the Sea Bottom.“
