Tuhkana beach and recreation area

The Tuhkana beach in North Saaremaa is one of the best swimming places on that side of the island. A boardwalk runs through the pine forest from the parking lot to the beach. The sandy shore is 500 metres wide and unlike the beaches in South Saaremaa, you don't have to walk far to get to deep water. You can enjoy real roaring waves with a stronger north wind. There's also a volleyball court on the beach. If you like picking mushrooms and berries, the surrounding forests have a lot to offer. The RMK recreation area in the parking lot has a picnic table, information stand and an outhouse.
