Viru Bog study trail

Viru Bog is one of the most accessible bogs in Estonia. Its trail passes through the forest and marsh landscapes typical of Lahemaa National Park and is 3.5 km long.

The study trail provides information about the the flora in the bog, the former sand dunes, the ridges and the heath woodland. A boardwalk winds its way through the bog, at the centre of which is a viewing tower.

The trail is marked and signposted.

Did you know...?
*The boardwalk leading up to the viewing tower can also be accessed by wheelchair users and the entrance to the viewing platform is also designed with special needs in mind

Getting there

At the 52 km mark along the Tallinn-Narva highway (E20) turn off towards Loksa. Drive on for 1 km until you see the sign on your right for Viru Bog and the car park. The study trail starts here.
