Karula National Park is located in Valga and Võru Counties. It was established to protect the nature characteristic of Estonia, and to revive a sustainable lifestyle and the rural culture of South-Estonia.

The Karula Upland forms a 5-8-km-wide ridge.

The highest point of the Upland is Rebasejärve Tornimägi (137.8 m) and  there are 60 lakes in the Upland. There are dome-shaped hillocks of Kaika in the National Park and the melting basins of ice banks can be seen around Koobassaare and on the northern shore of Lake Ähijärv.

Karula National Park represents one of the 21 places in South Estonia worth discovering, which has been marked by the yellow window of National Geographic in Lüllemäe.
