At the new Alutaguse Brown Bear Observation Hide, you are very likely to see a bear. The hide, which is located on the bank of a stream, has observation windows opening to two sides. The northern holes overlook a mixed forest of spruces and birches and the southern ones a stream and a meadow. In the forest, you might see bears, raccoon dogs, woodpeckers, and other forest birds. Elks and roes can be seen on the meadow. Sometimes, a beaver may swim by. In addition, there a lot of different birds: the golden eagle, the white-tailed eagle, the goshawk, the hawk, the Ural owl, passerines, and others.

The hide is simple, comfortable, and cozy. It has a dry toilet and private cabins with bunk beds, sleeping bags, and chairs.

Getting there

Drive towards Rannapungerja (Tudulinna) from Rakvere (about 30 km). Pass Palasi village and in 1.5 km after the ‘Udriku’ bus stop, turn left and continue straight for 1.8 km, until the road ends. There, you will see a parking lot and our employee, who will take you to the observation hide.
