Since the beginning in 1979, for 40 years by now, Estonian Music Days has been the most significant festival focusing on the works of Estonian composers. EMD presents the newest production by them, also combining musicians of diverse fields and different art forms.

The ISCM World Music Days organised by the International Society for Contemporary Music (ISCM) is an annual international contemporary music festival which has become one of the most important festivals of its kind.  Each year the festival takes place in a different city, where it joins forces with the substantial local festival or organization dealing with contemporary music. After taking place in Estonia this year, the festival travels to Christchurch and Auckland in New Zealand.

Having been an important promoter of contemporary music around the world for almost a century, the ISCM has endorsed the works of many exceptional and innovative composers from Schoenberg, Ravel and Stravinsky to John Cage and Olivier Messiaen.

In 2014 Arvo Pärt was the first Estonian to be chosen as an honorary member of the ISCM.
