The Energy Discovery Centre is located in a 100-year-old power plant, situated in the centre of Tallinn on the border of the Old Town and the Kalamaja district. Here, you can see lightning even on a sunny day!

Every day, lightning demonstrations are carried out with Tesla coils in the discovery centre  – a truly exciting experience.

More than 100 hands-on exhibits explain how different electrical equipment work, but also show exciting sound and light effects and introduce the cosmos and natural phenomena.
The centre has a planetarium where you can watch popular science short films and observe the sky.
The centre welcomes all curious minds, especially families with children.

Getting there

A five-minute walk from the Old Town: from the Town Hall Square, head to Pikk Street and walk until Fat Margaret. After exiting Suur Rannavärav, you will notice the discovery centre across the road. A ten-minute walk from the harbour: walk along Sadama Street from the A and B terminals of the Old Harbour (Vanasadam) until you reach Põhja Puiestee. Pass City Hall (Linnahall) and Creative Hub (Kultuurikatel) until you see the big yellow building of our centre on your right. When coming from the D terminal, walk around the marina. By public transport: take trams No. 1 and 2 or bus No. 3 to Linnahall stop.

Small but fun interactive museum near the Tallinn Old town

Not too big but fun museum themed around electricity production mostly, however other things present too. The first floor or rather basement floor is mostly various interactive exhibits to play...

Interesting indeed!

Our 6 - 11 years old grandchildren liked the Energy Discovery Center a lot. There was so much to do, to try and to see. We spent three hours there but for the planetarium unfortunately we did not...

Ok

Quite small, you could easily see everything in half an hour. My kids (2- and 4-years old) had somewhat good time playing around the varioud gadgets though. Still, if you have time for only one...
