An unforgettable experience of timeless classics.
At the opening concert of the concert series “Harmony”, ERSO and the chief conductor of the orchestra Olari Elts will bring works with Sibelius's gold rehearsal to the concert hall stage alongside new winds, the roots of which still lie deep in tradition. "Composers write new layers in music history - even if their works are very directly related to what was created before," says the esteemed Finnish contemporary composer Lotta Wennäkoski, referring to the title of Sibelius's "Saga"-influenced work "Verdigris". Tõnu Kõrvits' trumpet concert will be premiered at the solo of IndSO Vau, concertmaster of the ERSO trumpet group. New layers of Estonian music history will soon be written by the young musicians of the Tallinn Music High School, which is celebrating its 60th birthday this autumn.
For the first time, we are waiting for Leon Botstein, who did not come to Estonia last spring due to restrictions. He is the principal conductor of the New York-based American Symphony Orchestra and the innovative Orchestra Now. Botstein collaborates with many orchestras around the world and edits the prestigious US music journal The Musical Quarterly. It is no coincidence that this concert takes place in cooperation with the Estonian Academy of Music and Theater.
ERSO's various ensembles give a colorful insight into Czech music at the concert "Prague Serenade". The “Harmony” concert series ends with the final concert of the ERSO season, which focuses on Olari Elts' music by Johannes Brahms - a violin concert and the 1st Symphony. The opening work of the concert, German composer Detlev Glanert's "Fantasy", is also directly influenced by Brahms' 1st Symphony.
