Floating sauna VALA in Soomaa

There is an exciting floating sauna in the middle of Soomaa National Park.
The aim of the floating object of the summer school of the Interior Architecture Department of the Estonian Academy of Arts is to find out how much can a sauna room be opened so that the people there are not cut off from the rest of the sauna. The interior space of the sauna smoothly becomes the outdoor space. You can sit on the edge of the sauna and put your feet in the water. Inside the sauna room, you can jump straight into the river. As suggested by the name (VALA means ‘pour’ in Estonian), the sauna uses rainwater that has rained down onto the roof for showering.
The floating sauna is meant for public use. We ask the guests to use the sauna carefully and reasonably.
Nearby, there is unique accommodation available – Soohotell (the Bog Hotel). Both are located next to the beautiful Meiekose hiking trail. There is a lovely campground on the opposite bank.
The State Forest Management Centre manages the sauna.
