Lutsu tänav 2, Tartu linn, Tartu
The Home of Theatre, situated in Tartu’s Old Town, is a theatre inspired by a museum and forms part of the Tartu Toy Museum. It takes its inspiration from our childhoods, the games we played, the dreams we had, and the fantasies we brought to life.
The Home of Theatre hosts performances, but you can also put on your own show, play games, let your creative spirit run free, and discover what goes on behind the scenes in the theatre world. There is a children’s studio on the first floor, in which children’s groups can take part in theatre-themed programmes.
The basement level is home to a museum of puppets, an automated puppet theatre, and a medieval residence unearthed during an archaeological dig.
The Toy Museum and the Home of Theatre are located in the old town of Tartu, in the immediate vicinity of St. John’s Church. The permanent exhibition of the museum and the playroom are located at 8 Lutsu , while the museum’s theatre house (the Home of Theatre) is located at 2 Lutsu.
