See photos (19) Industrial heritage shows the development of technology and working methods and conditions to understand the Estonian cultural heritage.
In the second half of the 19th century, different factories came into being – the textile and paper industry, vodka distilleries, breweries, and the machinery and metal industry. The construction of railway lines and water towers in 1860–1870 added momentum.
As the marine sector developed, a number of lighthouses were built to the seaside areas at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Mills and lime and tar furnaces developed as the education evolved.
The tour on industrial heritage in Western Estonia introduces the old industrial buildings, machines, and the skills for operating them. The tour is suitable for children and adults alike.
