See photos (6) The tower on the left bank of River Kasari offers magnificent views of the water-meadow which is a stopping place for ducks, geese, swans, and Charadriiformes during the spring flood. During summer, one might notice nesting storks and eagles near here, as well as moose and deer.
The metal observation tower is 16 metres high (former border guard tower) and there is an open observation platform on the highest level. There is an information stand near the tower as well.
Good to know: it might not be possible to access the tower without getting one's feet wet in the spring.
From the centre of Matsalu National Park in Penijõe, drive for 3 km until Kloostri village. When driving through the village, turn left onto a smaller road, following the signpost 'Kloostri vaatetorn 3 km' (Kloostri observation tower 3 km). There is a marked parking lot, from where you have to walk a few hundred metres to the observation tower.
