Haanja Community Centre

Haanja Community and Tourism Centre was built on the initiative of the Union of Haanja Associations and with the support of statesman Konstantin Päts in 1937. Erected on the site of a former communal grain store, it originally housed a hall with a stage, a library, five rooms designed for tourists, the local constable's quarters and a store. It has since been renovated and contains the offices of the associations, a community centre and a library.
Did you know...? *Construction of the centre created a precedent when a group of men from the village went to see the president to seek financial support - and got it!
