Long House of the Hiiumaa Museum

Since 1998, Hiiumaa Museum is located in the old residence of the directors of the former Kärdla Broadcloth Factory, popularly known as the Long House. The house was constructed in the 1830s and 40s; the 60 m long house is the longest wooden house in Kärdla.

The exhibition ‘The Invisible Jubilee – Kärdla Broadcloth Factory 190’ gives an overview on the factory's invisible impact on the city of Kärdla and the lifestyle of its people, the fascinating characters involved in the factory and their stories, and briefly on the hard work done inside the factory.
Children can have fun in the playroom.
A souvenir and book shop with a wide selection of local handicrafts is open.
