Supilinn – a district of wooden buildings with a wonderful milieu

Supilinn (soup town), located in the immediate vicinity of the city centre, is a unique place because here, the city, the countryside, and nature meet. Supilinn, formed in the middle of the 18th century, is a historical district of Tartu. It also used to be the slum and suburb of Tartu.

The unique wooden house in various colours, green gardens, Emajõgi River, and the frog pong are all part of the identity and community of Supilinn. This is complemented by the village swing (at the intersection of Kartuli and Oa Street), the legendary Herne shop (Herne 6), the bakery Saiasahwer (Herne 20), unique street art, and the annual District Days taking place in spring.
