The museum is located in the building of the former parish school that was built in the 19thC. The exposition introduces the rich cultural heritage of the Väike-Maarja parish. Väike-Maarja is the birthplace of Georg Lurich and Alar Kotli. Anton Hansen Tammsaare and Tuudur Vettik studied here. There is also a unique exhibition devoted to the history of the Väike-Maarja Kolkhoz from the establishment of this collective farm to its dissolution.
