Prof. Eerik Kumari was an ornithologist and a conservationist, who was born in Kirbla in 1912.

Kumari played an important role in creating, studying and introducing the Matsalu National Park. In 1989, an award named after him was established in his memory for recognizing conservation efforts. The memorial stands on a pasture; a 280 m footpath leads to it.

Kirbla terrace is a limestone hill with a wonderful view of Kasari meadow.
