Linnutee is a 3.5 km hiking trail that can be passed on foot, by bike, on skis, or on a horse. There are four rest areas on the trail, where you can make a fire and rest; there are also two picnic areas. You can camp at the Lagle, Rabahane, and Kotka campfire sites.

The trail begins and ends in a car park with an information board.
Linnutee connects some of the most exciting birdwatching areas of Tartu County into a chain linked by the fish ponds in Ilmatsalu, Kärevere Bird Conservation Area, and Alam-Pedja Nature Reserve.
Linnutee offers surprises for hikers all year round.

It may be impossible to complete the trail in high water.

Getting there

From Tartu, drive 6 km to the village of Ilmatsalu. The marked trail begins at the information board in the car park on the shores of Ilmatsalu reservoir.

Great half day hike and picnic

Came by bus from Tartu on a Sunday. Doing the whole trail took about 3 hours with some stops along the way. The view both from the ground and watch tower were lovely. The trail is well taken care of...
